A Ginger Story...
"I saw how my tito disposed tons of their harvested ginger in the province only because it did not meet standards...
Some pieces were too big, too curvey, or just looks funny. Then I looked deeper and learned that my tito’s story was not uncommon.
What I found was disheartening. Every year, huge amounts of perfectly fine food go to waste across the supply chain. Not because it’s bad but because grocery stores have convinced us that food should fit their perfect-looking standard—leading to unsold waste and landfills.
After seeing how broken the food system is, I started sourcing from farmers, packing and delivering produce myself to homes in Davao. What began as a small effort to move overlooked harvests has grown into Odd Basket, built to move food faster and smarter."
